Isle Of Paradise Self Tanning Products & How To Use Them
I hate being pale. I've always tanned in a tanning bed or gotten a spray tan during the winter and then of course in the summer I'm just naturally tan from being outside so much. I've used Isle Of Paradise Self Tanning Drops for my face for almost a year now and I absolutely love them! So when they came out with a Self Tanning Lotion I had to snag it asap because I knew it would be just as good as their drops! I was not disappointed to say the least! I'm in love! Their products never let me down!
I always get some of the same questions though and wanted to finally do a step by step tutorial on how to get the perfect glow with their products! So lets talk about the face drops first and then we'll go over the self tanning lotion.
SELF TANNING DROPS FOR YOUR FACE
The Isle Of Paradise Self Tanning Drops for your face are amazing! Their so easy to apply! About an hour or so before I get ready to get into bed, I will go into the bathroom to do my night time routine. I add in the self tanning drops to my night time routine about 2 or 3 times a week.
After I wash my face with a cleanser and do everything else I need to, the tanning drops & moisturizer will be the last step. I use the Tula Overnight Repair Treatment or the 24-7 moisturizer. The only difference between the two is that the overnight repair treatment I would use at night and the 24-7 moisturizer you can use all day, even to put on before your makeup for a dewy look. Either way, it doesn't really matter which moisturizer you choose to use as long as you have one, because you need one to mix with the self tanning drops.
I usually use about a quarter size of a moisturizer and about 5-6 drops of the medium self tanning drops. I'll mix them together in my hands and then apply to my face with my hands as well. I'll bring it all the way down my neck and onto my collar bones also.
In the morning when I wake up, I'll usually just take a damp wash cloth and just wipe my face off. I'm not talking about scrubbing your face or using any cleanser products. Just a wet wash cloth (or beauty cloth) you have and gently wipe your face off.
It does take a few hours to notice and not everyone gets the color they want on the first try. It took me a few times to figure out how many drops to use for the darkness I desired on my face. The first time I used it, I was scared of looking too dark so I only did like 2 drops and I couldn't tell a difference. So the next time I did like 10 drops and was way dark. lol. So it took me a few times to figure out that about 6 drops is what I like.
Now if you get the "light" or "dark" shade of drops, you may need more or less. Again, it's really up to how dark you want to be. But this is my all time favorite product to use on my face to make it glow! I'm obsessed to say the least!
SELF TANNING BUTTER LOTION FOR YOUR BODY
Now lets talk about the Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Butter. This was the very first time I've ever used a self tanning product for my body so I didn't really know the "to do's" and "not to do's" of it all. But I learned quickly of what to do and not to do after making a few mistakes. lol.
I always take a shower and shave my body first. Then when I get out of the shower I will use the self tanning lotion. When your skin is clean & smooth, the lotion seems to just go on a lot easier. You want to exfoliate and get your skin prepped so to say.
The first time I used the self tanning lotion, I didn't do anything special. Just got out of the shower and put the lotion on all over my body. Went to sleep and woke up the next day. It was a beautiful tan glowing color! I was really impressed! So I got dressed and went about my day.....big mistake! I didn't know you were suppose to "wash down" the next morning. So after a day of wearing jeans, I had huge streaks of color all over my legs. My hands, feet, and knee caps were all really dark and I looked like Fred Flintstone. lol.
So the first thing I learned was to make sure you "wash down" after you let it sit for awhile or overnight. It's the same with the face drops, you don't want to use soap or scrub your body. Just let the water rinse over your body & use your hands to kinda just wipe down your body.
You can let the lotion sit on your body as long as you'd like. Obviously the longer you leave it on, the darker it will be. The pictures below was the color it turned after sleeping overnight with it on. If you don't want it to be so dark, then I suggest leaving it on for just a few hours and then washing down before you lay down to go to bed.
You want to apply it when you'll just be lounging around at home. You don't want to put it on and then go workout. You don't want to wear too restricting clothes either so I normally will either wear a robe or just loose pajamas.
The second time I applied the self tanning lotion, I did it a little differently. I got out of the shower and this time I put on the soap & glory butter lotion before I put on the self tanning butter lotion. (this was a tip from an awesome follower of mine!) You can use any kind of regular lotion but if you have dry skin, I suggest doing this step first. Even if you don't think you have dry skin, you should always lotion your feet, knee caps, and elbows before applying self tanner or those parts will be extremely dark looking. Our skin is just normally more rough & dry in those areas. I also didn't sleep with the tanning lotion on and washed down before I got into bed. So I had the tanning lotion on for about 4 hours. It defiantly wasn't as dark as it was the first time and looked more like a regular light tan.
Mind you, I am using the medium tanning butter lotion. If you get the light or dark, you may have to adjust how much you use depending on the darkness you want. The same goes for any kind of self tanning lotion or foam you use. You just have to use it a few times to figure out the darkness you desire.
I also suggest using a towel that you don't care if it gets tanning product on it or not. I have one towel that I only use for this because I didn't want to ruin a bunch of towels. I use this self tanning butter lotion about 1-2 times a week or when I see it start to fade a little bit, I'll use it again.
At QVC you can get a huge bottle of this self tanning butter and a big bottle of the self tanning drops together for $50.00!! That's a steal because this bottle is huge! The normal size self tanning drops alone are roughly around $30.00! You can also get their products at Sephora.
There are some other self tanning products out there I want to compare this with also like their self tanning foam they have! They even have a self tanner eraser, a self tan blender, and an instant wash off body bronzer!
I'm defiantly not anywhere close to being an expert at self tanning but the more I use it, I will be! If I use any other self tanning products, I'll be sure to let you know all the tips and tricks! Because we all gotta stay glowing together!
If you have any tips or tricks that you do when you self tan, leave them below! Happy Self Tanning ladies!
